A New Edition

Kinley Madrona, our dear little girl, was born at 0415 yesterday, the 28th. As she emerged from the water, she let out some yelps, some healthy, crackly cries, and lay calmly on her mother's belly. She was at ease and aware, and quickly latched. Her ears are wrinkled and scalloped, and oddly round. She has long fingers like a proper cellist. She aggressively protects the bend in her arms and legs, and seems most at ease with her left hand curled up on her cheek. We think she might have come out this way since she also had a black eye and a good amount of swelling on that side, and her nose was pushed well to her right. It's all healed and straightened now (ah, Youth!).
Everyone, including a very heroic mama, is in good health and at home. Once again, no pain meds or anything like that, and throughout, Laura made a good example of one thing a woman's body is very well designed to do. The other thing a woman's body is designed for is getting outside and running around, and she'll be making a good example of that in no time.  Laura feels surprisingly good after it all, and is up doing chores despite our insistence she not.  She's a champ.
Kinley was 7#12oz, and I forget how long. Sienna was intrigued by her presence and the novelty of a squirmy baby, but now is genuinely concerned for her welfare. She brings Kinley stuffed animals, food, and blankets, and got real sad when she accidentally fell on her and made her cry.
We are blessed. Such Riches, we have!

The day before the birth, walking around greenlake
